As with a lot of 100mm macros, this lens can easily serve double duty for portraits, though the lack of AF here could be considered a disadvantage. Carl Zeiss Milvus 2/100M ZE Canon vs. Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM vs. Sigma 105mm F2.8 EX DG OS HSM Canon
Description. Canon is stepping up their game with the original EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM Lens. They heard the call for a new EF medium telephoto lens with an extremely large f/2.8L aperture and the 100mm is it! The large aperture allows for crisp, clear foregrounds and beautifully blurred backgrounds. The 100mm offers not only Canon's trusty

The Sigma 50-100mm f/1.8 DC HSM Art Lens will win no awards for its zoom focal length range, but as of review time, no zoom lens has a wider aperture. And, at the 100mm end of the range, there is no equal even among the prime lens offerings. The f/1.8 max aperture, available over the entire zoom range, makes this lens an extremely attractive
Price. A quality macro lens at less than $400 is what makes this lens such a great value. When writing this review, the Tokina 100mm Macro is selling for around $350 at places like B&H Photo, Amazon and Adorama. That’s about 1/3 the price of the Nikon and Canon equivalent, and about $150 cheaper than the Sigma lens.
DOF on the Canon MP-E 65mm Macro Lens ranges from 2.240mm (1x, f/16) to .048 (5x, f/2.8). At 5x and f/16, the MP-E gives a minute .269mm DOF. This sounds worse than it really is as a grain of rice (says Canon) can fill the viewfinder. Subjects this tiny generally do not need as much DOF as something like a flower.
The Canon 100mm f/2.8L IS Macro boasts L-series designation, weather sealing, and Canon’s four-stop hybrid image-stabilization system. The hybrid image-stabilization system compensates for linear and rotational shake, making image stabilization more effective at close distances. Advanced Optics and Focusing.
IQ is similar to the EF version, but I have to give the edge to the RF (I'm a pixel peeper), I have taken enough shots with both the EF and RF 100mm f/2.8 L IS USM glass on the R5 to make a fair comparison. As you may know, all lenses have a "sweet spot". Although it has very good IQ wide open (f/2.8), but take it up a few stops, and IQ is amazing.

The FD 100/2 is a late-MF lens – metal with a hard rubber focusing grip. At 73mm long, it’s compact for a fast 100mm lens, but at 438g lens-only (before adapter), it’s heavier than most. It feels dense and the balance is front heavy on a light camera.
The AT-X 100 PRO D also comes with a deep bayonet mounted lens hood. This macro lens focuses fast enough on the Nikon D7200. Image quality even better than the Sigma 150mm Macro Lens. Focus Ring
The Canon EF 135mm f/2.8 is a sharp, compact, fixed telephoto lens with a fully adjustable soft-focus portrait feature. The adjustable soft focus feature adds soft, glowing halos around brighter parts of your image. It's great for portraiture because this glow helps cover facial blemishes and fill wrinkles. It works perfectly on all Canon DSLRs
Product description. Manufacturer description: The AT-X 100 PRO D is a new macro lens capable of life-sized (1:1) reproduction at 11.8 in. (30 cm). Re: Canon RF 100mm F2.8 EF extender are not compatible. In reply to Ephemeris • Nov 14, 2022. 4. Without physical modification, an RF lens will not mount to an EF extender. There are no reverse adapters at this time. If you wish to use the RF100 lens with an extender, it will require an appropriate RF extender.
